14 INTERNATIONAL TRADE well connected Recent International Trade Events RUSSO-BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CENTENARY YEAR We celebrated the Russo British Chamber of Commerce’s Centenary on the 24th of November in our Council Chamber with 17 businesses focused upon develop opportunities in this market joining us. The RBCC aims to be the first point of contact for British companies looking to develop their business activities in Russia and for Russian companies and entrepreneurs wanting to invest and do business in the UK. Trevor Barton, RBCC Executive Director gave an update on the Russian market and economic outlook followed by a presentation from Dr Gaby Henze, UK Representative SCHNEIDER GROUP briefing the audience on various e-commerce options selling to Russia. Despite current challenges there was optimism about the future of trade and investment and the mutually beneficial economic ties. A drinks reception and networking took place afterwards. We will be continuing our work the RBCC during 2017. SE Asia delegation visits Liverpool business community: 8 MARKETS WERE REPRESENTED: Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. 70 APPOINTMENTS TOOK PLACE with local businesses during the day with Britain in South East Asia (BISEA) overseas Chamber representatives. Liverpool and Sefton CHINA IN OUR HANDS Andy Snell was invited to return in November 2016 to Guangzhou to speak at the second annual ‘One Belt one Road’ conference. Andy also participated in a series of workshops and now has an agreement to go live with a web platform which will allow our companies to bid in for OBOR tender opportunities from February. This coincides with Chinese new year and Liverpool Chamber will be hosting the next Liverpool China Partnership meeting with partners, Liverpool Vision and China Britain Business Council. Join us in the Council chamber 31st January to find out more about this and the opportunity to participate in China outbound missions to exhibit your products and services in 2017. To book your place please contact Elena.Enciso@ liverpoolchamber.org.uk Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Department for International trade hosted the BISEA markets and organised one to one meetings with their representatives and local businesses looking for information on these regions and for contacts that can support their particular interests. Bisea’s aims to facilitate the interest of members of the British Chambers and Business Groups in the region. This networks allows all registered members of any of the Chambers to access membership benefits especially with regard to events that are held in different regions.
